Exploratory Modelling of Multilevel Mental Health Outcomes in the Airwave Cohort: Symptoms, Probable Diagnoses, and Functional Indicators

Summary of Proposal

This substudy aims to conduct a structured scoping analysis of the Airwave dataset to inform the development of a major funding bid to the Wellcome Trust Mental Health Award (2025). The overarching objective is to evaluate how Airwave data can be leveraged to develop integrated longitudinal models of occupational mental health risk and resilience, with a focus on identifying modifiable predictors across the lifecourse of police employees. The specific aims of the substudy are:

1. To examine completeness, structure, , including variable harmonisation across data waves.
2. To generate descriptive statistics across key sociodemographic, occupational, and clinical variables, with a particular focus on mental health phenotypes (e.g., probable PTSD, depression, anxiety).
3. To explore patterns of missingness, attrition, and follow-up to understand model design constraints.
4. To prepare a brief feasibility report and preliminary results tables to inform the methodological framing of the Wellcome application.
